In Summer

on foot

Summer mid-mountain walks, via ferrata, horse farm, summit garden, listed church

Between 5 and 10 minutes by car

All shops and supermarkets, spa, Mt Blanc tramway, casino, 8-screen cinema, fishing, hiking, climbing, downhill skiing, lake with beach for children, swimming pools, quad biking, paintball, laser game, go-karting, rafting, paragliding, skiing facing Mont Blanc.

Between 10 and 30 minutes by car

Several typical mountain villages, including Chamonix and Megève, only 15 km away.

NOTE :

There are plenty of opportunities to walk in the mid-range mountains (Aravis massif, Fiz massif and Aiguilles Rouges). There are also so many climbs in the high mountains (Mont Blanc massif) that you’ll never get the hang of them, even after several visits.

Classic family tourism A 45-minute drive: Annecy (France) and Geneva (Switzerland) are iconic towns on the shores of the great Alpine lakes. Aosta (Italy) and Martigny (Switzerland) are ancient Roman cities, all of which make great day-trips.

In winter

7 ski resorts with over 1000 km of pistes accessible within a radius of just 5 to 30 km. The highest concentration of ski resorts in the world, with the added bonus of a wide variety of areas and the possibility of adapting your choices to your level of tiredness, your ambitions at the time or the weather conditions of the day (extreme cold or foehn on the Mont Blanc massif).
Ski resorts from near to far :

About 10 minutes by car, Plaine Joux (a small, inexpensive and intimate family resort, facing Mont Blanc, facing due south and very suitable for beginners, very good snowshoe walking or walking).

About 15/20 mins by car, Les Houches (larger ski area, varied, fairly cool, slightly demanding cross-country ski loop at the top of the gondola, walking possible)

Approximately 15/20 mins by car, St Gervais/Megève (large, chic area but lift fares not really more expensive than elsewhere, cross-country skiing available between Le Bettex and St Nicolas de Véroce and back, nice cross-country trail at Mont Darbois on the Mas plateau).

About 20 minutes by car, Combloux/le Jaillet/la Giettaz (fairly large, popular, very sunny area with an extraordinary view of the Mont Blanc massif, small, slightly technical cross-country run at Combloux and an even smaller but very easy one at Le Jaillet, superb snowshoeing opportunities on the Croisse Baulet side of the mountain).

Approximately 20/25 minutes by car, Brévent-Flégère (south side of Chamonix, slightly steeper slopes, magnificent view of Mont Blanc just opposite, very good cross-country skiing in Chamonix on the Bois du Bouchet with the possibility of walking in parallel, very popular with Chamonix residents).Lognan-les Grands Montet (10 minutes after Chamonix towards Switzerland, popular on powder days, steep slopes partly on glacier, very sporty skiing, steep slopes, north-facing slopes, international clientele, beautiful ski slope on the Argentière flat, quieter but a little less sunny than Chamonix) is around 30 minutes away by car.
Les Contamines-Montjoie (family-friendly, varied area with a few large, easy boulevards, interesting but not very sunny cross-country ski run on the flat of Notre Dame de la Gorge, possibility of snowshoe walks and direction of the Col du Bonhomme)

About 35 mins by car, Espace Diamant (accessible in 10 mins after passing Megève, with the Tour it’s the furthest of the resorts (my wife loves this great day outing, a magnificent itinerary covering 6 ski resorts mainly in Savoie, avoid the Notre Dame de Bellecombe sector as it’s flat and uninteresting).

Station du Tour (5 minutes after Argentière, a beautiful intermediate ski area that is technically accessible and fairly sunny, but should be avoided at all costs on very cold days if there is a northerly wind).

Opportunities for snowshoe walks outside ski resorts in different parts of the Mont Blanc region (a small guide published by the local authority is available in the gîte).
